Joan Won

Welcome Joan to the new world! I should get this penned down in case I forgot about it as time goes by. My 3rd pregnancy was never easier. In fact, I had developed a hernia condition due to prolonged coughing during my pregnancy. Coupled with the moving of house, handling renovation heartaches and getting use to life in Yishun, I was always tired.

Towards the end of 38 weeks, I have checked myself into the delivery suite not once but thrice! Being a mom of two, I still couldn't really differentiate braxton hicks and real contraction. Most probably is the fact I do not have patience to wait and is anxious to give birth as the weight is causing me to be tired and lerthargic. In the 37th week, my gynae went for a holiday with his family of 7 children! I was so worried I would give birth during this time that I checked myself in on his "last" day of work prior to his holidays. Of course, it was a false alarm with 50 dollars poorer...I didn't even get to see him as he was caught up with work in Ang Mo Kio Hospital. The second check-in was a few days after he had seen me. Since it was already 3 cm dilated, I thought that contraction would be the real one....my Gynae looked at me..and said not time yet....

The third check-in was planned for. Throughout the morning, there was no contraction registered but amazingly when Dr Han checked, it was already 5 cm dilated. He decided to induce for me to give birth. The usual climax came...but this time round, dilation was not happening fast enough i.e. there is an urge to give birth but the body is not ready! I pushed much harder than my previous two births cause each time I pushed, the crown could not come out. Sigh....who says 3rd pregnancy was easier...Nevertheless glad all things went well, and there you go, Joan is born. A healthy baby at 3.705kg!
